Play of the day: Volleyball spike wipes out player and fan

There are few things funnier in sport than watching someone get hit in the head with a ball.

As long as the victim isn't seriously hurt, it's a great laugh. Same goes for watching someone unwittingly trip over. Hilarious.

In this incredible clip from an American high school volleyball match we get the holy double; two birds with one stone.

A strong backline player from Forth Madison Holy Trinity Catholic High sends a thuddering spike straight into the face of a retreating Winfield-Mount Union High defender during a state finals playoff.

But before the crowd even has time to gasp in shock, the ricochet flies into the feet of a sideline fan, skittling her in the process.

Both player and fan suffered no injuries so no guilt should be attached to laughing at the clip.
