Play of the day: Football Ferns cover 'Royals'

When the Football Ferns returned from Switzerland last week, they brought home two very special pieces of memorabilia.

One was the Valais Cup, the Ferns' first piece of silverware from outside Oceania in 38 years. The other was this video.

Filmed over the duration of their 10-day tour, the Ferns combined musical talent, well timed choreography and a host of gags to cover Kiwi artist Lorde's worldwide hit "Royals."

Ferns striker Hannah Wilkinson shows her musical chops in the intro before chief instigator Ali Riley teamed up with Rosie White and co to bring the laughs.

It's not the first time the Ferns have conjured up some musical tour-entertainment through the You Tube stylings of Riley. Check out their effort from the Cyprus Cup earlier this year and their Lady Gaga cover from the 2011 World Cup in Germany.
