Play of the day: Worst corner in international football

A quickly taken corner kick can be a dangerous weapon when used correctly, but it does involve some basic motor skills.

Armenia midfielder Aras Ozbiliz seemed to be in a rush to take a set-piece in the World Cup qualifier against Denmark on Wednseday morning (NZT) and that proved to be his downfall.

The Spartak Moscow star put the ball down, which considering what happened next, was a remarkably competent start.

It soon unravelled, though, as he connected with the corner flag before kicking the ball a matter of yards, falling over and grabbing the ball.

It was all incredibly embarrassing for Ozbiliz, but equally entertaining for the thousands of fans around the world who struggled through an ugly Danish 1-0 win.
