New Zealand won their third round robin match 3-2 against Turkey at the Sudirman Cup world team badminton championships in Malaysia yesterday.
It was their second win by a margin of 3-2 at the world mixed teams event - they lost their other match 3-2 to Philippines - and they next face the Ukraine in level 3 group A.
China are top seeds for the tournament followed by Denmark and Malaysia. New Zealand are seeded 25th out of the 32 teams competing and are ranked above Australia in group 3.
