Tyson Frizell was the fantasy steal of Round 5 of NZ Herald NRL Fantasy in scoring 64 points for the meagre price of $174,000 - even topping the fantasy-monster that is Cameron Smith.
Bulldogs vs Sea Eagles
It was slim pickings from the Bulldogs this week with no players breaking the half century mark though Michael Ennis (47pts) and Aiden Tolman (46pts) came close. For the Sea Eagles Matt Ballin was once again the star with 60 points while Brenton Lawrence finally cracked 50 points after coming close twice in previous weeks.
Eels vs Sharks
In a low-scoring, defensive-minded game there were only so many points on offer - Andrew Fifita (57pts) grabbed the most of them while the ever-consistent tackle machine that is Paul Gallen (50pts) also starred. Tim Mannah (49pts) led the Eels in fantasy points with his biggest haul of the season.
Cowboys vs Panthers
Cowboys and Panthers players currently do not feature heavily in the season leaderboards and that trend may still continue, especially for the Penrith squad. Former Warrior Lewis Brown (37pts) was the best of a bad bunch of fantasy Panthers. James Segeyaro (31pts) continued a downward trend in points-scoring after a strong start to his season. For the Cowboys, Jonathan Thurston (48pts) led the way with easily his highest total of the season while James Tamou (44pts) stayed nice and consistent.
Dragons vs Knights
The other defensive-minded game of the round produced the opposite effect to the first - three 50-plus points hauls. Tyson Frizell (64pts) and Mitch Rein (62pts) for the Dragons as well as Robbie Rochow (51pts) for the Knights made big impressions. Frizell at $174,000 and Rochow at $206,000 were particularly good value.
