Kiwi jockey James McDonald will find out his immediate riding fate at an appeal hearing today into his Melbourne Cup suspension.
McDonald faces a 14-meeting ban after being suspended for swiftly shifting out on a rival horse while aboard Fiorente early in the Great Race.
Through the use of the
camera mounted on the jockey's helmet, it's clear he was forced to make the move because Ethiopia dropped back in front of him.
However, the camera cannot be used in McDonald's case so he'll have to rely on race day footage.
The hearing begins at 12pm.
