Ashlee Mundy has opted to ride Five Coats in the $45,000 New Zealand Bloodstock Insurance Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Wingatui today.
Mundy has ridden Five Coats and stablemate and race rival Andromache in recent races.
The pair are trained at Riccarton by Peter and Dawn Williams, who have won the feature race five times.
Mundy rode Five Coats to a last-start win in a rating 70 1200m at the Wingatui premier meeting on February 5. She rode Andromache, who disappointed when ninth in the Dunedin Guineas (1400m) the same day.
Andromache had run Milo to half a head in the Gore Guineas (1355m) at her previous start.
Chris Johnson, the new rider for Andromache, has also won the feature five times, the most recent in 2006 on Smitten Kitten.
She was trained by Jan Hay, who will be represented by Hayley Rose today.
Miss Maximuss has a strong claim after late finishing bids for third in the Dunedin Guineas and second in the Southland Guineas (1600m) at her past two starts.
Darryl Bradley, who rode her in the Dunedin Guineas, is back on board. Her trainer Michael Pitman also has Peace And Aluminium Bikerack in the race.
The Dennis brothers, who won the race as owner-trainers with The Twinkle (1979) and The Wink (1982) when it was known as the Otago Mannequin Stakes, are represented by The Glitzy One and The Solitaire. Both fillies are trained at Wingatui by Steven Anderton.
