Soccer: 'Pigeon killer' sorry

Gaston Aguirre has expressed remorse after a shot at goal struck a pigeon and killed it while he was playing for Argentine club San Lorenzo. The 27-year-old defender said: "I kicked the ball and, poor pigeon. Now I will be remembered as the pigeon killer." Aguirre hit the bird in the 2-1 victory against Tigre in a three-team round-robin for the Argentine league title. Aguirre called the pigeon's death "unfortunate". San Lorenzo won the match 2-1.
