Boxer Shane Cameron got his hands on an Olympic torch this week - but it didn't belong to him.
The Commonwealth Games bronze medal winner and former boardsailor Barbara Kendall is among high-profile Kiwis who have donated goods or services to be auctioned to help with guide dog training.
The Great Guide Dog Online Auction, organised by real estate agency Bayleys, includes a private training session for four with Cameron - the "Mountain Warrior" - along with triple Olympic Games medallist Kendall's torch. This is the only one of three in NZ not held in the Olympic Museum. Cameron briefly got his hands on it at the Devonport Naval Base last week, where an overnight stay on a frigate is up for auction.
Other items include a rugby ball signed by the 2013 All Blacks, dinner with Emirates Team NZ yachtsman Rob Waddell and his wife Sonia cooked by MasterChef contestant Cameron Petley, golf with MasterChef judge Josh Emett and two nights' accommodation at a Tongan whale-watching retreat.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Bayleys' sponsorship of the Blind Foundation Guide Dogs.
