Local Steve Harvey said it was a privilege to be selected.
"I'm pretty nervous to be fair. It's well out of my comfort zone but I thought well, it's for a good cause...it's gonna be fun."
Dance instructor and co-ordinator Shelley Martin said she was thrilled with the auditions, but would have been happier if more men auditioned.
"Eleven women and two men auditioned. They were really excited and some were really nervous."
The judges, alongside Mrs Martin, were fellow dance teacher and co-ordinator Troy Smith, show producer and stage manager Shona Patrick and last year's winner Justin Nichols.
Ms Eglite was chosen as she showed "good initiative" in her audition, dancing to a mashup of different types of styles and music, Mrs Martin said.
"She put on a show for us."
However, Mrs Martin said they could have given the spot to four or five of the women who auditioned.
"All brought something different [to the audition]. We weren't necessarily looking for the best dancer but for the one with personality and the 'x-factor', someone who's an all-rounder."
She commended Steve's audition with his dance partner Darlene Thomas.
"We already have two Stevens in the competition [Steve Pinder and Steve Holmes], we'll see how that goes."
Hospice Rotorua funding and development manager, and event organiser, Jan Morgan said she was glad she wasn't a judge as "it was a hard decision to make".
"I was pleasantly surprised at the number of people who turned out to be part of it. The talent was all-inspiring and I was stunned by the talent we have here in Rotorua. We now have our 10 couples - and away they go."
The show will be held at the Rotorua Energy Events Centre on August 5 raising money for Rotorua Community Hospice.
