Two Te Arawa teams were named among the top nine at Te Matatini at the weekend. While local groups didn't feature in the overall top three, there were plenty of local winners in the aggregate and non-aggregate categories.
Judges marked each group for those categories during the first three days of competition, which started in Hastings on Thursday, as well as choosing their top nine finalists.
On the finals day on Sunday the slate was wiped clean and the groups performed for overall placings only.
