"We knew it was going to be a very physical game and in the past Taranaki have been traditionally hard hitters," said Pearson.
"But we put in some really good derby and I'm very proud of what our girls offered.
"We focused on a lot of communication on the track and had loud chat out there.
"The team worked together and were doing things cohesively as a unit.
"We managed to rock out a couple of plays we have been practising and put the points on the board."
Strong performances in attack from jammers Hazzard Belle, Frida Skull-O, Shan Grenade and Panel Beat Her saw Motley Crew get off to a flying start and were leading 20-0 after five minutes.
Taranaki's Rumble Bees battled back and managed to pull it back so they were narrowly trailing 49-42 with eight minutes to go before the break, largely thanks to the impressive form of captain and jammer La Rock Pebble.
But the away side were frustrated by an excellent Motley Crew defence after the restart and saw two players penalised out of the game.
Motley Crew capitalised with particularlly impressive jamming from Shan Grenade and Hazzard Belle who established an unassailable lead for the home side.
Motley Crew blocker Layla Robinson (Primevil), who played with a broken bone in her foot, said the victory was a much needed morale boost for the side.
"It was a very tight, good clean game and we are on cloud nine, " said Robinson.
"Our fitness level won us the game and we controlled the pack very well."
The MVP award for the jammer went to Motley Crew's Shan Grenade whilst the home side's Sadistic Doll picked up the MVP for the blocker.
