The BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to two overnight emergencies requiring night vision goggles on Friday night.
The Rotorua-based helicopter was called to airlift an 11-month-old girl from Rotorua Hospital to Starship Hospital at 8.30pm.
She required emergency surgery for a serious medical condition.
Not long after arriving back at base, the rescue helicopter was dispatched once again, this time to Minginui.

A young woman had delivered a baby and required urgent medical care.
She was flown to Rotorua Hospital.
Meanwhile, the Tauranga-based Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched at 8.15am on Saturday to Potaka, near Lottin Point, north of Te Kaha.
A 40-year-old man had suffered a stroke at his home.
He was stablised at the scene by paramedics before being flown to Whakatane Hospital in a serious condition.
