A man has pleaded not guilty to two charges of stealing from tourists.
Douglas Paul Ngatai from Rotorua appeared in the Rotorua District Court today via audio visual link charged with two counts of theft.
The first charge alleges he stole bags, clothing and personal items from two tourists on October 1 valued at $1500. The second alleges he, and another person, stole an IBM laptop, clothing and personal items valued at $4140 from a tourist on October 5.
Through his lawyer, Laura Owens, he entered not guilty pleas and elected a trial by jury.
Judge Greg Hollister-Jones remanded Ngatai in custody to reappear for a case review hearing on November 29.
