A total of $29,796 has been awarded to 20 art projects in Rotorua as part of the latest funding round for the Rotorua Creative Communities Scheme.
The successful projects included craft, film and music workshops, arts festivals and events, cultural days, music and performing arts competitions, as well as community art installations.
Creative Communities Rotorua assessment committee chairwoman Diana Beattie said a variety of art forms were included in the applications.
"It's fantastic to see so many projects that will create opportunities for people in the community, including young people, to get involved in the arts," she said.
Overall 23 applications for funding were received, totalling more than $63,000.
According to a Rotorua Lakes Council press release the Creative Communities Rotorua is a partnership between Creative New Zealand and the council with its main focus to stimulate and provide support to arts and culture projects which encourage community involvement.
