Assault in Kuirau Park

Police are calling for witnesses of an alleged assault at Kuirau Park.

Two Japanese tourists, one man and one woman, were assaulted in the park by three men aged in their twenties, between 6pm and 6.30pm last Saturday.

The man was punched in the face and received a broken jaw and the woman was pushed over.

The woman's grey Puma bag was stolen.

In the bag were a number of personal items, including an iPad Air, iPhone 5 and camera, as well as cash.

The three alleged offenders are described as Maori and are believed to have been travelling in a large light blue vehicle, which turned into Tarewa Rd from Kuirau Park.

Anyone with information is asked to call Rotorua Police on (07) 349 9400, and speak with Detective Mahara Alcock.

Information can also be shared anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
