Six people were taken to Taupo Hospital following a serious crash near Taupo involving three vehicles yesterday morning.
The accident happened just before 7am on the corner of Anzac Memorial Dr and State Highway 1 in the suburb of Wharewaka, near the Taupo Airport. One person had to be cut free by firefighters. St John Ambulance took six people to hospital, including one with serious injuries and two with moderate injuries.
A spokeswoman for the Lakes District Health Board said all six patients were originally taken to the Taupo Emergency Department then two were later taken to the Rotorua Emergency Department.
They have all since been treated and discharged.
Bay of Plenty District Command Centre Senior Sergeant Karl Konlechner said the crash was opposite the Five Mile Bay recreational reserve on SH1, just outside Taupo.
