Police are appealing for witnesses to the armed robbery of a Rotorua service station last night.
Police said an offender walked into the Caltex service station on the corner of Amohau and Ranolf Sts about 9pm armed with a weapon and demanded cash from the sole attendant. He left on foot a short time later and headed along Ranolf St.
Police described the offender as a dark skinned possibly Pacific Islander around 20 to 25 years old, clean shaven, softly spoken around 5"2 tall and of large build wearing a black hat with a red peak with a symbol on the front, a distinctive blue and white hoody, dark blue jeans and black gumboots.
At the time of the robbery a vehicle arrived at the service station and a female passenger had gone into the shop but was told of the robbery and left.
That vehicle was described as a blue station-wagon or people mover, which left along Ranolf St.
