Internationally known weavers will be sharing their experience, techniques and stories at the Rotorua Museum this weekend.
Local weavers Matekino Lawless, Jim Schuster, Cathy Schuster, Christina Wirihana will be discussing their approach to weaving on display in the exhibition, Whiria - Weaving Global Connections, which will be showing until June 7.
Whiria, which means "to weave together", features a wide variety of woven taonga (treasures) from private and public collections in New Zealand and the United States. It will showcase some of this country's most respected weavers alongside highly-skilled weavers from North West America, Hawaii and Japan.
The museum's sales and marketing manager Jo Doherty will talk about the taonga on show and will share their experience collecting, preparing and weaving materials native to New Zealand.
"I think it's absolutely fabulous to be able secure not only the top weavers in Rotorua but all four are nationally and internationally known and are all available," Ms Doherty said.
