Lake Rotoiti residents have been plagued by slow internet for months, and a respite is not in sight, frustrating residents and impacting business owners.
Chorus spokesman Nathan Beaumont said the internet in the area was working, but was unable to meet the supply.
"The more users in an area attempting to access high-demand services, the greater the impact to others who wish to access the basic services. This experience is like a narrow road at peak hour, the road still works but the traffic is congested."
Freelance photographer Ron Hayden has to travel into the city to send video files, despite paying for an internet service that he says is slower than dial-up. "It's affecting my business dramatically. I work from home, I have to go to the other side of town to get internet."
