A group of co-workers are preparing to walk 100km for the Oxfam Trailwalker next month.
Cameron Monteith, Kim Morrick, Malcolm Morrick and Deyna Muller, from Western Heights Pharmacy, will walk through fields, paddocks, forestry and bushland from Kinloch to the Tongariro Domain in Taupo, covering 100km in 36 hours.
The group, called The M&M&M&Ms, wants to raise at least $2000 for its efforts on March 28 and 29, which will mark the 10th anniversary of the Oxfam Trailwalker. It has so far raised $750.
Mrs Muller said the walk was a good personal challenge and a way to help those less fortunate overseas.
"The whole point of walking 100km is to see the struggle that some of them [children in developing countries] go through to walk to school in their everyday lives. Raising money will hopefully make that easier by providing more schools, as well as teaching communities in different countries how to farm land and animals.
