Job listings are rising in Rotorua, with employment in trades and office support leading the way.
Local recruitment companies say businesses are hiring and they need more applicants to fill vacancies.
The Trade Me employment survey for April to June shows the whole country enjoyed high growth.
Listings in Rotorua rose 2 per cent to 483, compared with the same period last year, with office support roles and jobs in trade driving most of the growth, the survey found.
According to the most recent Statistics NZ household labour force survey, the employment rate - the percentage of people employed in the working-age population - in the Bay of Plenty, including Rotorua, was 61.7 per cent in the March quarter, up from 57 per cent a year earlier.
