A falling tree has crushed a man's leg at a property north of Taupo.
The Taupo Greenlea Rescue Helicopter and Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to incident at about 11.30am today.
In a statement from the rescue helicopters, the 52-year-old was cutting a large gum tree for firewood when it partially fell crushing his lower leg.
While the man was being stabilised at the scene, the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter arrived from Hamilton with an Emergency Department A-Zero doctor on board.
The man was trapped for more than two hours before the tree was able to be lifted off his lower leg by heavy machinery.
