A man considered dangerous and possibly armed is wanted by Taupo police.
Teina Williams, 22, has six warrants out for his arrest for breaching his prison conditions and has been seen this week in Rotorua.
In 2010 he was sentenced in the Rotorua District Court to more than three years in prison for beating his partner until she was unconscious.
Police described Williams as a male Maori, of medium build and 181cm tall. He had a significant-sized tattoo of a bulldog and the words "Mongrel Mob" on his left check. He was thought to have contacts throughout the North Island including Rotorua, Taupo, Mangakino, Hamilton and Wellington.
