Te Matatini Incorporated Society has banned Mediaworks TV3 from using filmed coverage from Te Matatini.

In a statement released today Te Matatini Incorporated Society said TV3 was not allowed to use any filmed coverage of Te Matatini after its 6pm news bulletin breached the coverage guidelines.

Te Matatini managing director Darrin Apanui said he was very disappointed with TV3's actions, which breached an agreement between Te Matatini and host broadcaster Maori Television.

TV3 broadcast 26 seconds of a performance on stage yesterday before it was allowed to.

The rules state that footage from Te Matatini can only be broadcast after 10pm each day.

The ban for TV3 will take place from 8.30am today to 8.30am tomorrow.

Mr Apanui said he wanted to send a strong message to all broadcasters who wished to access vision from Maori Television's broadcast and that any breach would be "unacceptable."
