A man who has already been jailed for eight years for indecencies with a young girl has again been jailed for similar offending.
Alan John Jamieson's offences involved a different girl and happened before those for which he had already been imprisoned for, the High Court at Rotorua heard yesterday.
Justice Rodney Hansen sentenced 40-year-old Jamieson to five years on one charge each of sexual violation, attempted sexual violation and sexual violation by rape and three years for indecently assaulting a girl under 12. This was a representative charge, meaning Jamieson's offending happened more than once.
The sentences are to be served concurrently but cumulative on the eight-year sentence imposed on him in 2005.
Noting an "uncanny similarity" between the offences against the two girls, the judge said he made the strongest possible recommendation that before Jamieson is released, he undertake a specialist programme for repeat sex offenders.
