Four children are still in hospital after a logging truck hit the back of a school bus in Ruatoki last week.
Thirty-six primary and high school students were injured after a logging truck collided with a school bus in the small Eastern Bay of Plenty township last Monday as it was pulling over to let a student off.
Emergency services had worked until after dark to take injured children by ambulance to Whakatane Hospital, while others were ferried by helicopter to the Rotorua and Tauranga hospitals.
An 8-year-old girl was flown to Starship Children's Hospital and is now stable after being in a critical condition for much of last week.
It has been reported the girl had now woken from an induced coma but Auckland District Health Board spokesman Matthew Rogers said they were unable to release any further information about the girl at the request of her family.
