Rapid roast
When you haven't got time for the full roast, make a quick mini-roast with browned, herbed drumsticks thrown in a 200C oven for 30 minutes until cooked through. Boil or steam potatoes, kumara and pumpkin and roast them too, make a gravy with a stock pot and dinner is served.

Asian hybrid
Marinade drumsticks in a mix of hoisin and soy sauces, brown sugar, crushed garlic or ginger and either orange juice or ketchup; bake for 30 minutes. Perfect finger food with a beer while watching the footie.

Brown off chicken drumsticks, onions and whole garlic cloves, bake for 45 minutes with wedges of lemon, chicken stock flavoured with sherry and a touch of saffron and paprika, rosemary and thyme. Like Spanish, only quicker.
