Co-ordinator of the Taupo Council of Social Services, Andrew Lilburn has been appointed to the Geyser Community Foundation Distribution Advisory Committee.
A resident of Taupo for the past 15 years, Mr Lilburn is well known for his extensive involvement in the local community.
Currently chairman of Te Whare O Manaaki Trust Board, Arc Counselling Services and the Taupo Pathways to Employment Trust, he is a committee member of Taupo Community Garden.
Geyser's deputy chairwoman and chairwoman of the Distribution Advisory Committee, Dr Margriet Theron said it was wonderful to have a person of Mr Lilburn's calibre on the committee.
"Andrew clearly has a wealth of local experience and will play a very valuable role representing the Taupo district community."
The Distribution Advisory Committee makes recommendations to trustees, donors and other interested parties about where funding might be most needed at any given time in the Rotorua and Taupo communities.
Committee members work as volunteers and do not get paid.
Mr Lilburn replaces Marilyn Collins-Dawson who was appointed in 2013.
"Marilyn was the first representative from Taupo to be appointed to the committee and played a valuable role. She made useful contributions to grant distribution discussions based on her extensive knowledge of the community and charitable sector, having lived and worked in Taupo for more than 30 years."
Anita Westley also represents the Taupo district community on the committee.
