Coup leader's warning

Fiji's military leader, Frank Bainimarama, has warned his Pacific neighbours not to make "un-Pacific" comments about him as tension mounts around his country's democratic failure.

Bainimarama is hitting back at a cutting interview given by Samoa's Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sailele, that accuses the military man of not being truthful and of "stealing" public money, and mocks his army.

The Samoan leader claimed Bainimarama had no intention of meeting a May 1 deadline set by the 16-member Pacific Islands Forum to announce a 2009 election date.
