Messiah and King popular names for baby boys

King and Messiah are among the most popular baby names for American boys. They're behind Major, the boy's name that jumped the most spots on the Social Security Administration's annual list of popular baby names. Founder of Babynamewizard.com LauraWattenberg said Americans have long given their children "aggrandising names". She noted that Noble and General were on the list of popular boys' names for much of the 20th century. "We've done Jeffersons and Jacksons and Madisons, so we're moving on to the aristocracy, I guess, or to the military." Among the rising girls' names, Arya (a character in the TV show Game of Thrones) rose dramatically, as did Perla, Catalina and Raelynn. (Source: Guardian)

1. I used to work in a Post Office sorting office. There was a post box built into an exterior wall. During night duties we would collect any mail that fell into it to speed it on its way, at any hour. But if the sharp-eyed postie spotted a punter standing beside the box fumbling with their letter, they'd dive over and grab it out of their hand, sometimes with a sinister cackle.

2. A colleague told me that he'd once gone to a neighbour's house for a barbecue. When excusing himself to go to the toilet, his neighbour said: "The bathroom door sticks, you have to push it a little." Sure enough, the door resisted, so in his words "I gave it a bit of a shove with my shoulder". On the lookout for suspicious looking pressure cookers is one way to identify potential terrorists but suspicious photographers is the latest example of "terrornoia", according to a reader of website Boing Boing. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is encouraging citizens to report suspicious or unusual behaviour and provided this for guidance: "Possible Warning Signs of Terrorism. Tourists love to take pictures. For instance, the San Francisco bridge is one that's photographed every day. But if you're here in south Florida, and they're taking pictures of a bridge, and there's no one in the foreground, and they're taking many, many pictures, then the question becomes ... why?"
