For more than 22 years, Kristine Bartlett was paid little more than minimum wage. She is a caregiver for the elderly and puts up with barely making ends meet because she loves her work and the patients. But three years ago, Ms Bartlett — who had received a $5.26 per hour rise in more than two decades in the female-dominated profession — decided she’d had enough.
