Size does matter at an Upper Hutt nudist club.
The Wellington Sun Club's swimming pool fence at Te Marua is 5cm too short for Upper Hutt City Council's liking and might have to be raised.
Club spokesman Bevan Tong sought an exemption from fencing alterations after a council inspection found its concrete
block wall measured 1.15m - 5cm below the national standard.
No decision on the exemption was made when councillors met last week.
"To raise a block fence 50mm is a bit stupid, really - that's bureaucracy gone mad," Mr Tong said.
The club had already met the council's previous requests to remove wooden seating from the block wall and install smooth surface sheeting to prevent children climbing over, he said.
But council officer Dan Leyland said that children could gain pool access through a 150mm gap in the fence and at one fenceless end.
The club said it would close the gaps, but did not think that it was necessary to alter the block wall.
