A Napier teenager charged with murder in Hawke's Bay has been granted interim name suppression.
The 17-year-old was arrested and charged with murder overnight after a man's body was found in a roadside drain on Matahorua Rd in Tutira, between Napier and Wairoa, around 9.30am yesterday.
Represented by defence lawyer Eric Forster, the teenager appeared in the Hastings District Court this afternoon.
An application for bail was not made.
Judge Tony Adeane granted interim name suppression for the accused and the deceased, and remanded the defendant in custody to reappear on January 29 in the High Court at Napier.
