The mother of a 14-week-old baby boy who died from head injuries told a Tauranga court she discovered her son with a swollen floppy head, not breathing and covered in vomit.
The mother, who cannot be named for legal reasons, described her son's condition in the High Court at Tauranga yesterday on day two of the jury trial for a Bay of Plenty man accused of murdering Richard Royal Uddin on June 7 last year.
The defendant, who has interim name suppression, has admitted he caused the fatal injuries but denied he meant to kill the boy.
Richard Royal sustained multiple fractures to both sides of his head and to the back of his skull, which had " cracked like an egg", the Crown earlier told the jury.
The boy's mother said her son had vomit all over him, was not breathing, his head was swollen and "floppy", and he had a significant bruise on his cheek. A friend called 111.
