Two arrested for West Auckland mugging, one to appear in court

A 28-year-old man will appear in the Waitakere District Court today in relation to a mugging in West Auckland early this morning.

Another person, a woman, has also been arrested in relation to the same incident.

A man called police about 4.20am saying that he had been robbed by a man and woman on Colville Rd, Royal Heights.

The victim was unhurt, but the two alleged offenders took the his cellphone and cigarettes.

When police attended they found a car connected with the mugging nearby and signalled it to stop.

The driver tried to flee, but after a short police pursuit they stopped on a nearby street.

Police tracked the driver and passenger a short distance and arrested them both.
