A man has been resuscitated after getting into trouble in the water at a popular Northland campground this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the Pine Beach Campground at Kai Iwi Lakes, Taharoa Domain, at 1.50pm. A rescue helicopter also went to the scene.

A police spokeswoman said a man was rescued after getting into trouble in the water. CPR was administered and the man was taken to hospital in a moderate condition.

The campground, 35km from Dargaville, consists of two camping sites on the freshwater lake foreshore, and is a popular holiday spot for families.

It is the second incident there in two days. Yesterday a person was taken to hospital after a water accident.
