The woman's body found at a Bay of Plenty beach has been identified as 54-year-old Marama Lloyd, from Otaki.

She was also known as Marama Greeks.

While police's investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is ongoing, it is not thought to be suspicious.

A member of the public discovered Lloyd's body on Morice's Bay beach in Torere, near Opotiki, and called police just before 7pm yesterday, a police spokeswoman said.

Police were unable to remove the woman's body overnight and were this morning making enquiries.

The woman's death will be referred to the Coroner.
