A person has been seriously injured in a crash on State Highway 16 along the Kaipara Coast after the car they were travelling in rolled multiple times.

A police media spokeswoman confirmed it had sent a car to the crash which happened at around 12:30 today, in Glorit, on the coastal road between Omaumau Road and Ogle Road.

The Fire Service had set up a landing zone for the helicopter and had four crews in attendance, two from Wellsford and two from Ahuroa.

"Information was car had rolled into a paddock," the fire spokesman said. "No-one is trapped."

He said emergency services were called to the scene not long after 12:15pm and a helicopter had landed around 1pm.
