Rescue helicopter called in after car smashes through fence and down hill in Manawatu

A woman was picked up by rescue helicopter and another person was injured after their car crashed through a fence and sped down a steep hill on farmland in the Manawatu this afternoon.

The Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to a farm near Holcombe after a car left a gravel road and crossed a farm track at speed.

A Manawatu woman in her 50s was stabilised at the scene by the onboard paramedic before she was airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital with multiple injuries.

Halcombe and Feilding fire crews helped remove the woman from the damaged car.
