A pregnant woman was injured in a car crash outside a petrol station in Glen Eden this morning.

Two people suffered minor injures in the crash, which happened just after 7.10am near the Caltex Station on West Coast Rd.

A worker at the station said he heard a terrible noise as two cars collided.

"It was very loud. We could hear it clearly from inside the station."

One of the vehicles had just filled up with petrol at the station and pulled out on to the road seconds before the crash happened, he said.

The smash caused traffic to bank up in both directions on the busy road.

An ambulance spokeswoman said one of the motorists was pregnant.

Both drivers were treated by ambulance staff at the scene for minor injuries.
