Wellington police nab offender 20 minutes after robbery

A man who robbed a tenpin bowling alley in Wellington was arrested within 20 minutes of the robbery being reported.

The aggravated robbery was reported to police at 9.18am today. The offender had forced a staff member from North City Tenpin on Kenepuru Drive to open a safe and had taken a large amount of cash. The man had a firearm.

He then took the victim's cellphone and car keys and fled the scene using their vehicle.

At 9.36am police found and stopped the vehicle on State Highway 58 near Moonshine Rd. The firearm and stolen items were recovered.

A single male occupant was taken into custody and is being interviewed by Wellington Police.
