Save Firefighters have rescued a man and his dog after they became stuck in the mud in west Auckland this afternoon.
The man had been walking the dog when it strayed onto the mudflats at the end of Matipo Rd in Te Atatu, a Fire Service spokeswoman said.
Emergency services were
called to the incident about 2.30pm.
Firefighters eventually managed to get a Stokes basket - a stretcher used in search and rescue missions - to the pair and pull them out with a rope.
He and the dog were uninjured and were hosed-down on the shore.
