The teenager killed in a quad bike accident in Taharoa will be farewelled at her family marae on Thursday.

Family and friends of 15-year-old Jossie Wetini have started to gather at nearby Te Koraha Marae, where the teen's tangi will be held this week.

The Otorohanga College student died on Sunday evening when the quad bike she was riding crashed on a private road in Taharoa, just south of Kawhia.

A 14-year-old girl she was riding with - understood to be a relative - remains in a stable condition at Waikato Hospital.

Jossie's older sister, Star Wetini, paid tribute to her sibling on Facebook, saying she was dreading the day her sister would be laid to rest.

"I feel so lost without you. Love and miss you so much, my beautiful.''
