Wellington Police are appealing for information about the whereabouts of a teenage girl who has not been seen for the past three months.

Sunshyne McLean, of Porirua, was last seen in June.

Police say they believe the 15-year-old could be in the greater Wellington area or has travelled further north, possibly to Auckland.

Authorities have released a photo of the teen. However, it is thought she may have cut her hair shorter.

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 111.

A police spokesperson said Sunshyne has gone missing on a number of occasions in the past.
