An elderly pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in South Auckland this morning.

The accident happened just before 10.30am on Alfriston Rd near the intersection of Magic Way in Manurewa.

A police spokeswoman confirmed a man in his 70s had been injured after he was hit crossing the road.

He had suffered serious injuries and was taken to Middlemore Hospital for treatment.


Police and the Serious Crash Unit remain at the scene.
