An injured climber has been airlifted off Mt Tapuae -O -Uenuku, in the Kaikoura Ranges, this afternoon.
The climber was among a six-strong group who activated an emergency locator beacon about 3pm.
The Rescue Coordination centre in Wellington picked up the beacon, and the Nelson Marlborough rescue helicopter was
dispatched to the area.
The crew located the climbers and a St John Intensive Care paramedic was winched onto the side of the mountain.
The injured climber - who had suffered a fractured ankle - was stabilised and then winched aboard the helicopter.
