Roz Mexted is St Cuthbert's College new principal.
Ms Mexted joins the Auckland girl's school from November 1, moving from Westlake Girls High School, where she has been principal since 2011.
She will assume full principal duties from term one next year.
"We are thrilled to welcome Ms Mexted, who is widely respected for her leadership skills and her inclusive and open approach to staff, students and parents," said the college's trust board chairman Simon Allen. "She impressed the board with her considerable experience and results achieved in leadership roles at other schools, as well as her passion for girls' education, ability to think strategically and creatively about the future of St Cuthbert's."
Lynda Reid will step down as principal of St Cuthbert's at the end of the third term and associate principal and head of the senior school Helen Robertson will be acting principal in term four.
Mrs Mexted said it was a "privilege" to be joining St Cuthbert's College. "I look forward to sharing my ideas and passion for encouraging young women to reach their full potential and to develop the skills and self-confidence to become leaders, innovators and global influencers," Ms Mexted said.
Founded more than 100 years ago, St Cuthbert's is a highly regarded independent school for more than 1400 girls from Years 1 to 13, in Epsom, Auckland.
