A person was cut from their vehicle after it collided with a rubbish truck in Opotiki this morning.

Northern fire communications shift manager Paul Radden said the crash happened on Elliot St, near the Otara river just after 8am today.

Opotiki firefighters cut one of the two occupants and both people are being taken by ambulance to Whakatane Hospital in a moderate condition.
