Police have lifted a cordon near a popular walking track in central Whangarei after an incident related to a kidnapping.
An area on the Riverside Dr side of a track known as the Town Basin loop was cordoned off this morning.
Police at the scene declined to comment.
         An Auckland-based
police spokesperson said the cordon was connected to an "ongoing kidnapping incident".

The cordon, metres from a popular local skateboard park, was lifted at 12.45pm.
